Still the hottest tech device coming from Apple is the iPhone, and soon the iPhone 5 will finally grace the hands of consumers and shelves of the market. Last October the world was hit with surprise when the Cupertino giant decided to unveil the iPhone 4S rather than the iPhone 5, and while Siri was welcomed with open arms as an amazing addition, there wasn’t all that much to write home about design wise; it was just an iPhone 4 evolution. This time around Apple fans are hoping for a laundry list of wishes when it comes to the iPhone 5, and its design, processor, screen and RAM.

The iPhone took the world by storm, and has gone on to become one of the best selling tech products in the world, and something that completely shook up and changed the mobile industry for good. There’s something about an Apple product that just drives people crazy, and the hype behind them is downright atrocious. You could almost compare the frenzy for an Apple product to the energy behind a Justin Bieber die-hard fan. Are you wondering what this year’s refresh will hold, and whether or not all the iPhone 5 rumors and speculations by analysts are true or not? Of course you are, and that’s what Apple wants to happen. Apple has built most of their success on their unprecedented designs, functionality, usability, and the overall sleekness of their products. Equally as important in their equation is the way they approach each refresh without ever opening their lips until they are good and ready to unveil a product.
While some photos, information, and other leaks do slip out from time to time (thank god) we as the consumers are left pretty much in the dark which just creates more hype from stir-crazy fans. It’s quite ingenious and the iPhone 5 will be no different, with Apple safeguarding it like an ancient King. The company even goes as far as having multiple prototypes (usually 5) so that if one were to find its way into the media or the hands of someone not intended, the final production model wouldn’t be fully revealed.
According to many rumors and sources from around the web, the iPhone 5 could get a curved glass screen like the Galaxy Nexus since Apple was found to be snatching up a bunch of glass cutting machines that are extremely expensive. Unless they want to keep them as trophies, the company must have something up their sleeves when it comes to one of their products displays. Of course the iPhone 5 display will be getting the proprietary ‘retina display’ but what would make the screen even better is if it were scratch and shatter proof, using technology from Corning and their Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass 2 looks like an amazing product and is a great advancement from the original introductory glass. And, if rumors are true, we may also see the screen coated with a product that will effectively limit the annoying fingerprint grease or residue your fingertips excrete and leave smudged on your coveted device.
At this time it appears that the iPhone5 will see a late fall release, but certainly before the US holiday shopping frenzy. Traditionally the iPhone has been released sometime in the Summer, and usually in September, but last year the iPhone 4S hit the market in October. It is expected that the iPhone 5 will see a similar route and likely be in the hands of the masses sometime in October again, unless of course the device is ready to ship sooner than a year’s passing. With all of the features and specs that are being speculated for the iPhone 5, it would seem hard to get a device like that unveiled, marketed and in full-scale production in less than a year. Of course, Apple is usually working on their next devices before the current model even is fully launched, but if the A6 processor and other specs are true, it will be interesting to see how the iPhone 5 plays out later this year.
